Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have arrested a suspected terrorist collaborator in Kaduna State, destroyed three improvised explosive devices in Zamfara State, and recovered 73 livestock allegedly rustled by terrorists.

The military disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.

The statement says troops of Sector One, acting on credible intelligence on October 8, arrested a suspect, Yusuf Adamu, at Kuyello in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State over alleged collaboration with terrorists.

According to the military, the suspect reportedly admitted during preliminary interrogation to involvement in terrorist activities, including recording a video of a female kidnap victim who was allegedly sexually assaulted by terrorists to facilitate a ransom demand.

It alleged that the victim was killed after the ransom was delivered and that the suspect received 50,000 naira for his role.

The military says investigations are ongoing to apprehend the alleged principal suspect, Yusuf Iliya Sani, and other suspected collaborators.

In a related development, troops of Sector Two, working with the Nigeria Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, located and destroyed three improvised explosive devices allegedly planted by terrorists along the Magami-Dansadau road in Zamfara State.

The operation, conducted on October 8, was aimed at addressing explosive threats and improving the safety of residents and road users along the route.

The military also reported that troops of Sector Two, acting on intelligence about terrorists moving rustled livestock between the Kombo and Gurusu villages in Zamfara State, engaged the suspected terrorists.

The troops reportedly forced the terrorists to flee, abandoning the animals. The recovered livestock comprised 14 camels, 19 cows and 40 sheep.

The troops, in collaboration with local vigilantes, subsequently moved the animals to a secure location for further action.

Operation Fansan Yamma reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling terrorist support networks, neutralising explosive threats and protecting lives and property.
