Troops disrupt terrorist meeting, neutralise several insurgents in Zamfara

Daily Post 1 day 2 mins read

Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have killed several terrorists during an airstrike targeting a suspected gathering of terrorist leaders in Zamfara State.

The operation was carried out on May 10, 2026, following intelligence reports of a meeting involving suspected terrorist commanders at Tumfa Village in Shinkafi Local Government Area of the state.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.

According to the military, the suspected terrorists had gathered at a concealed location on the outskirts of the village, hidden within a densely vegetated area.

The statement said troops of Sector 2, working alongside the Air Component of the operation, launched a precision airstrike on the identified hideout after confirming the intelligence.

“The strike successfully destroyed the structure serving as the terrorists’ meeting point,” the statement said.

A Battle Damage Assessment conducted after the operation reportedly confirmed that several terrorists were killed, while others fled the area.

The military added that aerial surveillance later detected suspected associates attempting to evacuate casualties from the location.

Ground troops have since intensified clearance and exploitation operations in the area to track fleeing suspects and consolidate gains from the operation.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA said it would continue sustained operations against terrorists, bandits, and other criminal groups operating in the North-West region.
