Troops of Sector 1, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled a cattle rustling activity in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
They also recovered over 500 cows during a response operation.
This was contained in a statement by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, on Wednesday.
The task force said that, responding to the distress call from locals on cattle rustling activity at Rugar Mande Kurmin, troops on Tuesday swiftly mobilised to the suspected withdrawal routes of the terrorists and formed blocking positions.
“Troops engaged the terrorists from multiple positions, forcing them to withdraw in disarray and abandon all the rustled cattle,” Danja said. “Troops recovered all the rustled cattle and subsequently handed them over to their respective owners.”
He stated that the “successful operation” further buttressed the unwavering commitment of troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to secure the lives and property of the citizenry while disrupting criminal activities and denying criminal elements freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.
The task force urged the general public to continue to support security agencies with relevant information to enable the theatre to eradicate terrorist elements within the Joint Operations Area.
