Troops neutralise 16 terrorists, recover arms in Adamawa

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North-East), Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), have neutralised 16 terrorists and recovered several weapons during operations in Adamawa State.

The development was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by Capt. Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters, Joint Task Force (North-East), Operation Hadin Kai.

According to the statement, the troops recorded the successes between September 30 and October 1 across Sector 4 of the operation in Adamawa State.

It said the troops ambushed a terrorist enclave in the Boima general area of Gombi Local Government Area, killing 16 terrorists.

The troops recovered three AK-47 rifles, two pump-action rifles, one Dane gun, six AK-47 magazines and a belt of pump-action cartridges from the area.

The statement added that the Air Component of OPHK also conducted a precision air strike on October 1 after an intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance platform detected about 16 terrorists gathered with 15 motorcycles under a tree canopy in Sector 4.

It said the target was struck at about 5:30 a.m. after positive identification, while a subsequent battle damage assessment confirmed the destruction of the target.

Meanwhile, insurgents attacked troop locations at 226 Battalion in Garkida and 232 Battalion in Garaha.

The troops repelled the attacks, forcing the insurgents to withdraw, but three soldiers were killed during the fighting.

The statement said the wounded soldiers were evacuated and were receiving medical treatment, while follow-up exploitation and mop-up operations were ongoing in the affected areas.

The task force urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely and credible information to security agencies as operations continue across the North-East.
