Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, have repelled attacks by suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters on Yadi and Bitta in Borno State.

The attacks, which involved a combination of air and ground operations, took place on the night of October 29, 2026.

According to a military source, the first attack was launched on Yadi at about 9pm and lasted until 1am on October 30.

The source said the counter-offensive, which lasted about five hours, was coordinated by the Theatre Command using intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance assets, as well as air and ground troops.

Forty-eight terrorists were neutralised during the operation, while several arms and ammunition were recovered, the source added.

The source also disclosed that troops repelled another ISWAP attack on their camp in Bitta, a community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, on the night of October 29.

The combined air and ground forces defeated the attackers, while troops continued to exploit the area.
