Troops have rescued an 11-year-old girl allegedly taken from her community by two suspected terrorists for a spying mission in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
The girl, identified as Aisha Mustafa, was rescued at about 1:41 a.m. on September 4, 2026, during a routine patrol around the Armuda general area.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, Aisha was among three people allegedly taken from the Mountain Village of Saha by the suspected terrorists.
Preliminary investigation reportedly indicated that the suspects intended to use the victims to monitor the activities of troops deployed around Ngoshe.
Zagazola said Aisha ran towards the troops after sighting them and surrendered, while the other two people reportedly escaped towards the village.
“The girl was among three persons allegedly taken from Mountain Village of Saha by two suspected terrorists,” Makama reported.
Aisha is currently receiving necessary assistance as efforts continue to reunite her with her family.
