Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have rescued two herders who were injured in an attack by suspected militia members in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The development was contained in a post shared on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Friday.
According to the post, the incident occurred around 5.30 pm on June 18 near Rafin Bauna community, where the victims were reportedly attacked while grazing their livestock.
Troops of Sector 3 were said to have responded swiftly after receiving a distress call about the attack.
“The prompt response of troops prevented the situation from escalating and ensured the safe evacuation of the victims for urgent medical care,” the source said.
On arrival at the scene, the soldiers forced the attackers to flee and conducted a search of the surrounding area before rescuing the victims.
The injured herders were identified as Yusuf Isiaku, who sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder, and Mubarak Lawan, who suffered minor injuries.
Both victims were immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
Security agencies have since launched efforts to track down those responsible for the attack.
