Nigerian forward, Gift Orban, has continued his excellent start to the Super Lig season by scoring a hat-trick, leading his team to a commanding 5-0 win over Istanbul Başakşehir on Sunday evening.
The former Hellas Verona player netted three goals in the second half at the Seyrantepe Spor Kompleksi Stadyumu 1, delivering an outstanding performance for the home side.
Orban increased Amedspor’s lead just seven minutes after the second half began, heading Furkan Soyalp’s cross into the bottom corner.
The Nigerian striker further extended the advantage two minutes later by finishing a quick counter-attack, calmly converting Ermal Krasniqi’s precise layoff from close range.
With fifteen minutes left in the match, Orban completed his hat-trick in a similar manner, scoring another goal from a pass by Krasniqi to cap off his remarkable performance.
The three goals brought his total for the season to six, placing him level with Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen in the scoring rankings.
Orban, who joined the Turkish club on loan during the summer transfer window, has been in exceptional form since the season began, scoring six goals and providing one assist in five league matches.
The Nigerian forward has scored against Trabzonspor, Kasimpasa, and Istanbul Başakşehir since the start of the season, establishing himself as one of the league’s top forwards.
Osimhen has also had a strong start to the season, netting six goals and providing two assists in four matches before suffering a hamstring injury.
Orban will be eager to maintain his impressive form and secure a recall to the Super Eagles squad ahead of the upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau.
