Two persons have been arraigned before an Abeokuta Magistrates' Court, sitting in Isabo, over alleged theft of electrical cables valued at N4 million.
The defendants, Nehemiah John, 31, and Ahmial Ishaku, 22, are facing a four-count charge bordering on burglary, stealing and malicious property damage.
The prosecutor, Insp. Opeyemi Lawal, told the court that the defendants committed the offences between September and October 8, 2025, at Olokuta, Kemta Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.
Lawal alleged that John, who was a security guard to the complainant, Mrs Bisi Ojewoye, unlawfully entered her house with intent to steal.
According to the prosecutor, John resigned abruptly without explanation, after which it was discovered that electrical cables installed in the house, valued at N4 million, had been stolen.
He added that the ceiling of the house was damaged while the cables were being removed.
Lawal further alleged that Ishaku received the stolen cables from John, knowing them to have been stolen.
He said John was apprehended and the matter was reported to the police, leading to the arrest of both defendants.
The offences, he said, contravened Sections 390(6)(9), 411, 427 and 451 of the Criminal Code Vol. 1, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
John pleaded guilty to the charges, while Ishaku pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Miss O. T. Odubanjo granted Ishaku bail in the sum of N500,000 and adjourned the case till November 11 for hearing of facts following John's guilty plea.
