The Katsina State Police Command says it has recorded fresh successes in its ongoing operations against kidnapping and banditry, rescuing two abducted women unharmed and arresting suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate and an alleged informant in separate operations across Dutsin-Ma and Kankia Local Government Areas.
The Command said operatives of its Violent Crime Response Unit, acting on credible intelligence during a confidence-building patrol in Dutsin-Ma, dismantled a three-man kidnapping syndicate allegedly linked to the abduction of an elderly man.
According to the police, one of the suspects confessed to conspiring with other members of the syndicate to abduct his own grandfather.

The elderly victim was reportedly held captive for 16 days before regaining his freedom after his family paid a ₦3 million ransom.
The suspects remain in police custody as investigators work to establish the full extent of the syndicate’s operations and identify other individuals who may be connected to the criminal network.
In a separate operation in Kankia Local Government Area, police operatives responded to an attack by armed bandits who abducted two women from Sha’iskawa Fulani Village.
The officers engaged the attackers in a gun battle, forcing the assailants to retreat and enabling the police to rescue both victims unharmed.
The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, Ali Umar Fage, commended the operatives for what he described as their gallantry and professionalism, while reaffirming the Command’s determination to intensify its operations against kidnappers, bandits and other criminal elements across the state.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the Command also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to combat crime and protect communities.
The police said sustained collaboration between security agencies and residents remains critical to disrupting criminal networks and enhancing public safety across Katsina State.
