Tyson Fury says Anthony Joshua fight could be off

Tyson Fury has claimed his highly anticipated fight against Anthony Joshua may no longer happen, blaming fresh financial demands from Joshua’s camp for putting the proposed bout in jeopardy.

The former heavyweight champion also launched an extraordinary attack on Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, accusing him and others involved in the negotiations of demanding more money.

Fury and Joshua had been linked with a long-awaited heavyweight showdown, with a potential November 20 date at Madison Square Garden in New York reportedly under consideration.

However, the fight has yet to be officially confirmed, with negotiations reportedly complicated by financial issues surrounding the proposed venue.

According to reports, Hearn has sought additional money to account for tax implications associated with staging the fight in New York.

Fury, 38, addressed the situation in a video while appearing to exercise on a treadmill, claiming negotiations had stalled because of financial demands.

“Quick update for yous: it doesn’t look like they’re going to sign the fight and it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.

“All because Eddie Hearn and that want more money.

“They’ve already had that much money off Turki in the last few years, Eddie and AJ.

“They’ve had boxing deals, they’ve had darts deals, they’ve had snooker deals, they’ve had everything.”

Fury went on to express his frustration with the situation, directing further criticism at Hearn and Joshua as negotiations over the proposed blockbuster continue.

The potential Fury-Joshua bout has been one of boxing’s most anticipated match-ups for years, with both British heavyweights having previously held world titles.

Despite repeated speculation about the fight, the pair have never met in the ring.

The latest development raises fresh doubts over whether the long-awaited all-British heavyweight showdown will finally take place, with negotiations still unresolved.

Neither an official date nor venue has been confirmed for the fight.
