‘Uba Sani’s development strides are unparalleled’ – USAA

Daily Post about 1 hour 4 mins read

Governor Uba Sani is embarking on massive infrastructural development and rural transformation for the benefit of Kaduna State citizens of all generations and not for the next election.

The Governor has also spread projects across all senatorial districts, with each of the 23 local governments, including rural and urban areas benefiting, since he assumed office over three years ago.

The Uba Sani Aides Assembly (USAA), a forum of Technical Assistants, Special Assistants and Senior Special Assistants to the Governor, made this observation after touring a few legacy projects.

Speaking to newsmen after the inspection tour, the Chairman of the Forum, Hon Ibrahim Mohammed noted that the Governor ‘’ has initiated 160 new road projects in addition to inherited ones, bringing the total road network under construction to 1,355 kilometres across the 23 LGAs. Both urban and rural communities are benefiting.’’

Hon Mohammed pointed out that ‘’infrastructural development has not been concentrated in the capital while rural areas wait. The quality of work, the use of reputable contractors and insistence on timelines show a government that is serious about value for money.’’

The Chairman who noted that no administration in Kaduna’s history has made such huge investments in urban and rural infrastructure, commended the Governor for the quality, scale and even spread of these projects.

He listed three flagship projects that the Governor Uba Sani administration has implemented, including the Kaduna Modern Inter-State Bus Terminal at Millennium City in Chikun local government; the Kabala Costain to Aliyu Makama Road and Bridge linking the northern and southern parts of Kaduna city and the ongoing reconstruction of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium.

According to the Chairman, ‘’the Kaduna Modern Inter-State Bus Terminal sits on 18 hectares at Millennium City. It is the largest of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa, with capacity for 5,000 vehicles.

‘’Designed as a modern transport hub with state-of-the-art facilities, it is powered entirely by an independent solar grid, making it efficient, environmentally responsible, and a model for public infrastructure,’’ he added.

Hon Mohammed argued that the ‘’ terminal will ease traffic congestion in Kaduna city by diverting inter-state and heavy vehicle movement to Millennium city, reducing travel time, improving safety, and enhancing the passenger experience.’’

The Chairman of Uba Sani Aides Assembly (USAA further noted that the terminal ‘’ will also create jobs, open opportunities for small businesses and attract investment to Chikun and adjoining communities.’’

He noted that the terminal is not a stand-alone project but part of a wider transport vision that includes the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, the planned Light Rail and the modernisation of motor parks across the state.

The USAA leader disclosed that the Kabala to Aliyu Makama Road and Bridge is a strategic corridor which was initially stalled since 2022 due to unpaid contractor certificates, unresolved compensation claims and utility relocation costs.

According to him, the present administration Inherited the project at about 30 percent completion, adding that ‘’Governor Uba Sani settled the outstanding obligations and remobilized contractors to site.’’

The aides noted that the historic Ahmadu Bello Stadium is being reconstructed and ‘’expanded from 16,000 to 33,000 seats, making it the second largest in Nigeria after the Moshood Abiola National Stadium. It will feature a hybrid football pitch and Olympic-standard facilities.’’

‘’The stadium will remain a national asset, open to national teams, federal sporting programmes and major events. Beyond sports, it is an economic investment that will attract tournaments and visitors, boost hotels, restaurants and transport services, create jobs for youths and restore Kaduna’s place as a centre of football and athletics,’’ Hon Mohammed noted.

He promised that the Assembly soon commence a statewide awareness campaign to sensitise citizens in all 23 local governments on the projects and their benefits, just he called on the electorate to renew their trust in the Governor and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to consolidate the gains achieved by the present administration.

“We will take this message to markets, villages, towns and communities, and we will ask our people to stand with a government that is delivering. Continuity is the surest way to consolidate these gains and build on them,” the Chairman added.
