Daily Post 24 days 1 mins read

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has disclosed that defender, Gabriel Magalhães wanted to take the last penalty against Paris Saint-Germain during both sides’ UEFA Champions League final on Saturday.

Recall that Arsenal lost via penalty shoot-out following a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes.

Kai Havertz and Ousmane Dembele scored the goals during normal time.

Gabriel and Eberechi Eze were the two Arsenal players who missed their penalty kicks against the French Ligue 1 champions.

Speaking at his post-match interview after the match, Arteta said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano, “Gabriel wanted to take the last penalty. We trained for that moment”.

Gabriel has been impressive for Mikel Arteta’s side so far this season, helping them to win the Premier League title ahead of Manchester City.
