New Manchester City midfielder, Enzo Fernández, has called his teammate Erling Haaland an “animal” and a “beast” following their 2-0 win over FC Porto in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Haaland netted twice in the game, and his new teammate talked about his attitude off and on the pitch after the match.
Haaland’s two goals in the second half secured a 2-0 victory for Man City against FC Porto on Tuesday.
For his first goal, Haaland connected with a cross from Fernández, converting it from close range.
The Argentine international was making his Champions League debut for City after his joint-British record transfer from Chelsea.
Fernández told Amazon Prime, “Erling Haaland is an animal, a beast. Every time I step onto the pitch, I will look for him, and I hope to provide him with many more assists so he can score goals like that.
“It’s not only about the player he is — he is also an incredible human being and has truly welcomed me into [the club].”
For his second goal, Haaland skillfully redirected a pass from Rayan Aït-Nouri with one touch of his right foot during stoppage time in the second half.
Porto became the 22nd different team that Haaland has scored against in the competition.
Last season, Haaland netted eight goals in 10 matches in the Champions League, where City faced elimination by Real Madrid in the round of 16.
City took their time to find the breakthrough in Porto, as the Portuguese side’s goalkeeper Diogo Costa consistently thwarted Haaland’s attempts in the first half.
