The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has commended Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, for his administration’s efforts to improve environmental sanitation and promote a cleaner environment across the state.
Umahi also urged other states in Nigeria to emulate Kano’s commitment to environmental cleanliness and effective waste management.
The minister’s commendation was contained in a press release issued on Wednesday and signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB), Abubakar Ahmad.
According to the statement, the Kano State Government has sustained various sanitation initiatives, including the Operation Kano Tsaf-Tsaf programme, aimed at maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
The statement quoted Umahi as saying, “Kano State has demonstrated a strong commitment to environmental cleanliness. Other states across Nigeria should learn from its efforts and adopt similar measures to promote a cleaner and healthier environment for their citizens.”
The minister’s commendation highlights the state government’s ongoing efforts to improve sanitation, protect public health and encourage residents to take greater responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean.
He said the success of the sanitation initiatives depends on cooperation among government agencies, sanitation workers and residents.
It added that residents were being encouraged to dispose of waste properly, maintain clean surroundings and support government policies aimed at protecting public health.
The state government was also urged to sustain its sanitation programmes and strengthen public participation in environmental management to maintain the progress recorded so far.
