Unidentified gunmen on Saturday attacked the Uratta Eziukwu Police Station in Aba, killing two policemen and injuring three others.
The hoodlums who arrived with improvised explosive devices, set a police van ablaze, destroyed a vehicle and power generating set and some other property in the building.
They destroyed the windows and doors in the police station before fleeing.
Speaking to journalists at the police station in Saturday, the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, Wilfred Afolabi, condemned the attack on his men.
He said the command has commenced efforts to apprehend the fleeing hoodlums.
CP Afolabi thanked Governor Alex Otti for visiting the police station, describing the gesture as a big encouragement for the command.

"The most important thing is to get the culprits and that is what we are doing.
"Wherever they are, we are going to get them; even if they enter the bush, we are going to get them," Afolabi vowed.
