UNL: Why I did Thierry Henry’s iconic celebration – Lamine Yamal

Barcelona winger, Lamine Yamal has explained why he replicated the club’s former striker, Thierry Henry’s iconic corner-flag celebration after scoring his second goal in Spain’s 4-1 win over Croatia in the UEFA Nations League on Tuesday.

After scoring his brace during the match, Yamal held the corner flag in the classic style famously used by Henry.

Speaking during his post-match interview, Yamal said he performed Henry’s iconic corner-flag celebration because he views the Frenchman as a major role model and personal reference.

“Thierry Henry is a reference. He has this legendary celebration, and I wanted to do it,” the 19-year-old said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

Yamal has been impressive for both club and country, and he is one of the top favourites to win the Ballon d’Or this year.
