The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has said some unscrupulous politicians are inciting Nigerians and thugs to take up arms against Nigerians under the guise of protecting votes.
Keyamo made the comment while recalling the remark of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari that security agents should deal with thugs or anyone who uses weapons pretending to protect their votes.
Posting on X, Keyamo asserted that these unscrupulous politicians would ensure that their children are sent abroad long before they take steps to empower thugs.
He wrote: "Once they've safely sent their kids overseas, some dishonest politicians are pushing innocent people and violent individuals to grab weapons and fight each other, claiming it's for 'protecting their votes.’ That's okay.
"Let me say again what the late President Buhari said before the 2019 election (which I supported then and still do): if someone uses self-help and takes risky weapons pretending to protect their votes and attacks others, it is okay and right for police or security forces to stop them or deal with them as part of their job.
"The kids of the politicians will be watching how foolish you are from a safe place somewhere in the world. Since you've already been told, you can now go ahead and use your options. Chikena."
