The United States Central Command, CENTCOM, says it has carried out a third consecutive night of airstrikes against Iran.
CENTCOM revealed this in a post on its verified X handle on Monday.
“These strikes will continue imposing a heavy cost on Iranian forces and degrade their ability to attack innocent civilians and commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz,” the post read.
The third strikes came after President Donald Trump said in an interview with Hugh Hewitt that there would be more airstrikes against Iran Monday and Tuesday night.
He stated that the United States was taking control of the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that wealthy countries would pay for US efforts to secure the waterway.
Trump alleged that Iranian negotiators were reversing agreements reached during previous talks, warning of further military action if Tehran violated ceasefire commitments.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said Iran would fulfill its obligations only after the United States fully honored its own commitments.
According to him, Iran remains in contact with mediators, including Qatar, Oman and Pakistan, to prevent further escalation and keep diplomatic channels open.
