US lawmaker hails Nigeria over reported arrest of terrorist leader

Daily Post about 1 hour 2 mins read

United States lawmaker, Riley Moore has welcomed the reported arrest of Mahmoud Adam, who has been accused of involvement in attacks that killed Christians in Nigeria.

Moore said the reported arrest was an indication that security cooperation between the United States and Nigeria was yielding results, while commending the Nigerian government for the operation.

The Republican congressman also credited the US Congress and the administration of President Donald Trump for efforts to strengthen the protection of Christian communities in Nigeria.

He called for sustained cooperation between both countries to tackle attacks and improve security for communities affected by violence.

The comments followed a report by The Daily Caller on the reported arrest of Adam, who was said to have been taken into custody on September 12 at his compound in Plateau State. The publication described him as a prominent Fulani community leader and cited allegations linking him to a terrorist group.

The Daily Caller said its report was based partly on information from a whistleblower and other sources, while noting allegations concerning Adam’s purported role in violent attacks. The circumstances surrounding the allegations and his reported arrest remain subject to official clarification.

Moore has previously been involved in US congressional efforts concerning violence against Christian communities in Nigeria, including a report presented to the White House in February 2026 that called for stronger US-Nigeria security cooperation.
