suspected terrorists, apparently to target troops or unsuspecting civilians, including farmers returning to cultivate their farmlands.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>He added that troops immediately secured the area and successfully disposed of the explosive device in situ in accordance with established explosive ordnance disposal procedures, eliminating the threat without incident.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“The operation forms part of ongoing clearance and Counter-Improvised Explosive Device, C-IED, efforts under Operation HADIN KAI to make liberated communities Task Force (CJTF) apprehended a suspected ISWAP\u002FJAS informant in Dusuman Ward, Mafa Local Government Area.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>According to the report, a preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly met with terrorists at Labe village to provide intelligence on troop movements and activities.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>It added that troops of 73 Battalion arrested a suspected ISWAP member in Konduga Local Government Area after he voluntarily surrendered.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>The army said the suspect confessed to participating in three attacks on Delwa and disclosed that he dumped his AK-47 rifle in a river before surrendering to troops.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“Items recovered from him included a bicycle, a cutlass, bicycle repair tools and ₦6,500 cash.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“In another operation, troops of 149 Battalion and CJTF arrested another suspected terrorist informant in Gubio Local Government Area.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“The suspect confessed to leading the June 16 terrorist infiltration of Gubio, during which a CJTF member was killed.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“Meanwhile, troops of 19 Battalion and 25 Brigade Garrison intercepted suspected terrorist logistics suppliers near Road Kauji in the Damboa Local Government Area.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“The suspects fled on sighting troops, abandoning two bicycles, cartons of energy drinks, milk, soft drinks, veterinary medicines and a canopy,” it said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>The army said that troops of 26 Task That warning was ignored, the attackers came, and our people died,” the letter stated.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Questioning the nation’s security response, the association asked: “If actionable intelligence cannot save our people, what can?”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>It argued that the constitutional responsibility of government to protect lives and property had not been effectively discharged in respect of the Idoma people.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“The Idoma people are bona fide citizens of this country, entitled to the same protection as any other Nigerian, yet for over a decade our communities have been overrun, our farmers butchered in their fields, our women violated, our children orphaned, and our people displaced as refugees in their own land. They need the security architecture of the State deployed to ensure they never again receive their Governor in mourning.”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Among its demands, the association urged President Tinubu to immediately deploy military and other security personnel to neutralise armed groups operating in the forests of Benue South, order a thorough investigation into the recurring massacres, ensure the arrest and prosecution of all perpetrators, investigate why intelligence supplied by the traditional institution was allegedly ignored, establish permanent security outposts in vulnerable communities, and provide humanitarian relief, medical care and compensation for victims and affected families.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Appealing directly to the President, the association maintained that although the Idoma people had remained peaceful despite years of repeated attacks, their restraint should never be mistaken for weakness.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“We have shown restraint in the face of sustained provocation, but our patience must not be mistaken for weakness, and our blood is not worthless,” the letter stated.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>It added: “We seek justice, we seek protection, we seek to live in peace on the land of our ancestors.
