IBADAN — Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, on Wednesday informed the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, by telephone of the release of the prospective National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members abducted while travelling to their orientation camps in Imo State.

The confirmation was conveyed during a telephone conversation between the governor and the Olubadan at about 5pm on Wednesday.

A statement by the Olubadan’s media aide, Adeola Oloko, said Uzodinma personally informed the monarch of the release of the prospective corps members.

The development brought relief to the families and loved ones of the victims, who had been anxiously awaiting news of their safety.

According to the statement, the Olubadan had been closely monitoring developments surrounding the abduction and expressed relief following the governor’s confirmation of their release.

The monarch had earlier shown concern over the fate of the prospective corps members and followed efforts to secure their safe release.

Oloko said the confirmation from Uzodinma brought renewed hope to the families and others who had been concerned about the safety of the abducted prospective corps members.

The release followed security efforts to rescue the victims after they were abducted while travelling to their NYSC orientation camps in Imo State.
