Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has alleged that his face-off with the All Progressives Congress, APC, Governors’ Forum stemmed from Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State’s alleged ambition to become Senate President in 2027.
Wike made the claim during an interview with TVC News on Monday while reacting to the controversy surrounding the formation of the Rainbow Coalition.
DAILY POST reports that the APC Governors’ Forum, led by Uzodinma, had distanced itself from the coalition founded by Wike, arguing that its activities could undermine the political ambitions of some party members.
In a quick response, the FCT Minister described the APC leaders as “lazy politicians.”
The development has triggered notable division within the ruling party.
Speaking on TVC News, Wike said President Bola Tinubu has his backing, stating that the president is aware of all the steps he is taking ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said, “All this noise against the Rainbow Coalition is about the ambition of Governor Hope Uzodinma to be Senate President in 2027.
“President Tinubu knows about the Rainbow Coalition. There is nothing that I am doing that he is not aware of.”
