BENIN CITY – THE Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Manchester United Kingdom chapter weekend pledged its support to the Edo State government’s efforts to eradicate cultism, kidnapping and other crimes in the state.
This pledge was made on during the official inauguration of Amb. Nosa Imadiyi as Coordinator of the VGN Manchester Chapter.
The inauguration was officiated by the Diaspora Coordinator of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Ik Edokpolor who expressed appreciation and commitment to the Governor’s SHINE Agenda.
He said the diaspora arm of VGN would work with the Edo State government to strengthen security and promote the “Say No To Crime” campaign among Edo people abroad and at home.
A statement made available to Vanguard in Benin City on Sunday said the event drew Edo community leaders and members of VGN in the UK to the event including the Senior Special Assistant to the Edo State Governor on Diaspora Matters, Hon. Osarodion Osagie, and renowned filmmaker, Amb. Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen.
In his acceptance speech Imadiyi commended Governor Monday Okpebholo for his administration’s commitment to security, infrastructure and youth development under the SHINE Agenda.
He said “Today is not just about my inauguration as VGN Manchester Coordinator. It is about service. First, I must commend His Excellency, the Governor of Edo State Senator Monday Okpebholo. We commend you for your strong fight against crime in our state. We commend you for your good works in security, infrastructure, and youth development. Sir, your efforts have not gone unnoticed.
“VGN stands for security, safety and service and we are here in Manchester to support that same fight.
“My focus is to back the governor’s “Say No To Crime” and his “Shine Agenda”,
Partner with Hon. Dion Osagie and the Diaspora Office to support Edo State
Unite our people here to contribute to a safer, better Edo.
“From Manchester to Benin, we are with you, Your Excellency. Together we will build a safer society.”
On his part, Osagie said Governor Monday Okoebholo has created platforms for Edo people abroad to contribute meaningfully to governance, especially in the area of security and crime prevention.
Also speaking, Imasuen applauded the Okpebholo administration, noting that the renewed fight against cultism and kidnapping has restored hope among Edo people both at home and in the diaspora.
