Kampala — Victoria University will hold its 10th graduation ceremony on 19 and 20 October 2026 at Speke Resort Convention Centre in Munyonyo, with the event focused on technology, artificial intelligence, and the changing demands of the modern workplace.
The ceremony, themed “The Future Is High,” is expected to bring together about 2,500 graduands who will receive certificates, diplomas, bachelor’s degrees, and master’s degrees. University officials have described the occasion as a milestone marking a decade of graduation ceremonies and a turning point in the institution’s efforts to reshape academic training.
Julius Bukyana, the university’s Corporate and Public Relations Manager, said the event would examine how artificial intelligence and technological advances are transforming both classrooms and workplaces. “In the era of work-integrated learning and artificial intelligence, this year’s graduation ceremony is destined to zoom in on technological advances in education,” he stated. He added that the changing nature of work requires universities to equip graduates with practical skills and the ability to adapt as new tools are adopted across industries.
University leadership, including the Board of Directors, University Council, and senior management, has framed the 10th graduation as an important step in preparing “market-ready” leaders. The institution has long emphasised experiential learning and work-integrated training, which combine classroom study with workplace placements so that students graduate with practical experience alongside their qualifications. Officials say this model is designed to improve employability both in Uganda and abroad.
The two-day gathering is expected to draw graduands, academic staff, university leaders, and invited guests. It continues a pattern of large-scale ceremonies at Speke Resort Munyonyo; the 9th graduation in 2025, held under a theme linked to innovation, digitality, and employability, also conferred awards on roughly 2,500 students and featured addresses highlighting free AI training for all students and the need to prepare graduates for a technology-driven job market.
Victoria University, a private institution chartered by the National Council for Higher Education and part of the Ruparelia Group, has positioned itself around practical, technology-enabled education since beginning operations in 2013. The upcoming ceremony is presented as both a celebration of the current graduating class and a statement of the university’s direction for the decade ahead.
As of mid-October 2026, the university had not publicly announced a specific chief guest or released a detailed programme. Updates are expected through the official website (vu.ac.ug) and the institution’s social media channels.
