The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said that he will resign as a minister if President Bola Tinubu loses the 2027 presidential election in Abuja and Rivers State.

Wike stated this while meeting members of the Apo Traders Association in Abuja.

He said that while Rivers is his home, Abuja is where he works, and he cannot afford to lose in both places.

“The presidential election is on January 16, 2027. By January 17, 2027, I will announce my resignation as FCT Minister should the President lose in Rivers State and the FCT,” he was quoted as saying on Wednesday in a post made by his media aide, Lere Olayinka, on X.
