The Kogi State Government has confirmed the killing of notorious bandit leader, Kachala Ibrahim Battijo, who was reportedly behind a recent attack on a school in Iluke Bunu, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area.

The state’s Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, disclosed this on Tuesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.

According to Fanwo, Battijo was among several bandits neutralised during a recent security operation carried out by security forces.

He said the slain kingpin had allegedly masterminded the attack on the Iluke Bunu school, which resulted in the death of three people.

Fanwo further alleged that Battijo was coordinating a network of criminal activities, including plans to abduct students from schools across Kogi State.

The commissioner described the operation that led to the bandit leader’s death as a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity and dismantle criminal networks operating within the state.
