Channels TV about 1 hour 2 mins read

The Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Adedeji Doherty, has promised to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive if elected.

Doherty said his administration would prioritise access to electricity and reduce what he described as frivolous charges and levies imposed on businesses.

Speaking on the Independence Day edition of The Platform, he said his government would take steps to ease the burden on businesses and create conditions that support economic growth.

“We will create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive. We are going to make sure there is power; we are going to cut down on frivolous charges and levies that pull businesses down,” he said.

On the housing crisis in Lagos, Doherty said his administration would pursue the construction of affordable housing and acquire existing family houses.

“We will build high-rise, low-cost housing in the hinterlands and buy up family houses,” he said.

The PDP candidate also urged young Nigerians not to be intimidated by politics or accept the perception that politics is inherently a dirty game.

He encouraged youths to take an active interest in politics, stressing that decisions made in the political environment will ultimately shape their future.

“You shouldn’t feel intimidated, and do not accept that it (politics) is a dirty game because it isn’t. Whatever happens in the political environment is what is going to shape the future,” Doherty said.
