[VIDEO] NAF Air Crash: You Can’t Rule Out Anything — Commodore Dappa

Channels TV about 1 hour 2 mins read

A retired naval officer, Commodore Promise Dapper, has said that nothing can be ruled out yet regarding the cause of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) air crash that happened in Igbokada, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Dapper made this known during an interview on Channels Television’s LunchTime Politics on Wednesday.

“The crash is being investigated, but you can not rule everything out; all the cards have to be on the table. You cannot rule out sabotage; air attack, you cannot rule out anything.

“You cannot even rule out bombing because, from what some of the eyewitnesses are saying, they are seeing wreckage splinters of the aircraft while it was still in the air, and most of these splinters are found in far-flung villages and nearby places before the aircraft even got on the ground,” he added.

His remark comes in the wake of the NAF 931 aircraft carrying 25 people, which included 20 passengers and five crew members, that crashed in a swampy area not far from the Naval base in Igbokada at about 9 a.m. on Monday.

The Marine Police said they were working with the Navy and locals to recover the remains of the victims and the wreckage of the aircraft, while the officers of the Nigerian Navy have also restricted movement to the scene as residents and sympathisers continue to troop to the area.

The Nigerian Air Force said it would continue to provide timely and verified updates as the investigation progresses, urging the public to refrain from speculation and the circulation of unverified information, while respecting the privacy and dignity of the affected families.
