President Bola Tinubu has departed Abuja for Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to perform Umrah, an Islamic spiritual exercise involving a pilgrimage to the Holy City.
Tinubu departed at 2:20 p.m. on Thursday.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said in a statement on Wednesday that the visit would give the President an opportunity for spiritual reflection, devotion, and prayers for the nation’s peace, unity, stability, and continued progress.
According to the statement, the President will perform the religious rites associated with Umrah, seeking Allah’s guidance and blessings for Nigeria and its people.
Tinubu is expected back in the country next week upon the completion of the spiritual exercise.
