WAFCON 2026: Babajide bags POTM in Super Falcons’ Egypt triumph

Omorinsola Babajide was named Player of the Match following Nigeria’s empathic 6-2 victory over the Cleopatras of Egypt, DAILY POST reports.

Babajide, who made her first appearance in the competition, registered two assists in the encounter.

The Liverpool star set up substitute Gift Monday for the Super Falcons’ second goal four minutes before the break.

The versatile winger teed up another substitute, Uchenna Kanu for the defending champions fourth of the night nine minutes from time.

Babajide is the second Nigerian to win the Player of the Match award at the WAFCON 2026 finals.

DAILY POST recalls defender Michelle Alozie picked the individual accolade in Super Falcons’ second group game against the Copper Queens of Zambia which they won 1-0.

The Super Falcons will take on the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in the quarter-finals in Casablanca on Sunday.
