Nigeria will face Cameroon instead of Ghana in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON.
The Super Falcons have finished as Group C runners-up after Wednesday’s results.
Justin Madugu’s ladies thrashed Egypt 6-2 taking their points tally to six, the same as Malawi and Zambia.
CAF’s competition rules meant only the matches played between Nigeria, Malawi and Zambia were considered for the head-to-head tiebreaker.
This saw Malawi qualify as group winners, while Zambia were eliminated.
The Falcons will now play the Indomitable Lionesses, as CAF used a fixed knockout bracket, which sees the runner-up from Group C clash with winner of Group D in the quarter-finals.
Cameroon earned top spot following a 2-1 win over Mali and also beat Ghana 1-0.
Ghana can only finish as runners-up in Group D after losing the decisive head-to-head meeting with Cameroon.
Second place in Group D will be determined when the Black Queens play Mali on Thursday.
