A lawyer and chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Agubuzu has knocked the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu over his comment that Igbos will have to wait 60 years to get the presidency for just four years.
DAILY POST had reported how Kalu, while reacting to South-East stakeholders pushing for a four-year single-term Igbo presidency, said the region cannot wait 60 years for four years.
But reacting on Sunday, Agubuzu said Kalu's statement is misplaced and does not address the real problem facing Nigerians.
According to him, Kalu should be talking about how to solve hunger and hardship in the country instead of debating 60 years for Igbo presidency.
“Nigerians are hungry; leave Igbo presidency matter. While Nigerians across the country are shouting ‘Tinubu Must Go’ because of hardship and fear that things will get worse if Tinubu is re-elected, our brother, who is Deputy Speaker, is talking about 60 years.
“He forgot that Obi’s main goal is to change Nigeria from consumption to production so that millions of people can come out of poverty. That is why Nigerians are saying Tinubu Must Go,” Agubuzu said.
He added that the issue of a single term for South-East should be looked at from the angle of zoning, equity, national unity and inclusion.
