We are unaware of the proposed nationwide warning strike – Rivers workers

Daily Post about 1 hour 1 mins read

Some federal government workers in Rivers State say they are yet to receive official communication about the three-day nationwide warning strike directed by the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council, JNPSNC.

The council ordered the warning strike over worsening economic hardship, rising fuel prices and the Federal Government’s failure to address demands contained in a letter sent to President Bola Tinubu.

However, normal official activities were ongoing at the Federal Secretariat Complex in Port Harcourt on Friday when LEADERSHIP Weekend visited the facility.

One of the civil servants, who spoke anonymously, said workers in the state had not been formally notified by their union leaders about the strike.

“Our union leaders here are yet to formally inform us about the warning strike. We are just hearing rumours,” the worker said.

At the Rivers State Secretariat Complex in Port Harcourt, no information could be obtained concerning the strike as the facility is currently undergoing renovation.

The state government had in February directed civil servants, particularly those in the junior cadre, to work from home until the renovation of the complex is completed in January 2027.
