Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu has explained the requirements for Nigerians and other West Africans seeking to join the United States Army, warning prospective applicants against online scams.
Momodu, who recently enlisted in the US Army, said applicants must already be resident in the United States and have a Green Card before they can qualify to proceed with the enlistment process.
“If you are in Nigeria, or you live anywhere in West Africa, and you are part of those sending me DMs that help me join the US Army. Let me give you the gist,” Momodu said.

According to the actor, there are two key requirements for people seeking to join the US Army or other branches of the US military.
“1. You have to be resident in U.S. 2. You have to have a Green Card then you can qualify to sit for the ASVAB exam,” he said.
Momodu also warned people outside the United States against falling victim to individuals or websites claiming to offer direct enlistment opportunities.
“Please do not fall for any scam anywhere, there is no link anywhere to click on to join the US Army when you are outside the U.S,” he added.
Recall that in June, Momodu announced his enlistment into the United States Army, describing it as the fulfilment of a personal dream and a tribute to his late father, who served in the Nigeria Police Force.
The actor disclosed his enlistment in an Instagram post, where he reflected on the physical and emotional demands of his military training.
According to Momodu, the journey tested his resilience, pushing him through months of rigorous training and isolation.
His experience has since prompted questions from Nigerians and other West Africans interested in knowing how they can similarly enlist in the US military.
