Where’s your promised transport fare reduction – Atiku’s camp tackles Tinubu

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

The camp of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has demanded the promised transport fare reduction by President Bola Tinubu.

In a post on his verified X handle on Thursday, Atiku’s media aide, Paul Ibe, said the promised transport fare reduction was meant to commemorate Nigeria’s Independence Day.

DAILY POST recalls that President Tinubu had promised that Nigerians would pay less for transport from October 2026.

Reacting, Atiku’s aide said, “October 1 is here. But where is Tinubu’s promised transport fare reduction effective today? It was meant to commemorate our Independence Day.

“October 1 is here. The question is simple: where is the measurable nationwide reduction?

“However, I am once again reminded that though we may be independent ‘of our colonial masters, we are yet enslaved by bad governance.’”

He added that the Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration has claimed progress in CNG vehicle conversions and reduction of fares on select routes.

“But this is still far from nationwide coverage. The government’s own CNG programme says refuelling infrastructure currently reaches only 23 states and describes expansion as a multi-phase process, with full coverage of all 36 states and the FCT still a target,” he stated.
