Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, has admitted he thought about retiring from international football after the 2026 World Cup.
Ronaldo decided to continue playing for his country after talks with the president and head coach, Jorge Jesus.
“I thought about retiring from international football after the World Cup,” the 41-year-old said.
“But I spoke to the president, coach and I am still here. I am an asset, I can help.”
Ronaldo is set to play for Portugal in the upcoming Nations League fixtures.
The Al Nassr forward has vowed to keep inspiring the younger generation even after he hangs up his boots.
“The young kids love me because they saw me as an example and that for me is the most important thing,” Ronaldo said.
“I will continue to do that even when I retires after 10 years.”
