Why I Don’t Collect Tithe – Prophet Odumeje Speaks on His Real Mission In Ministry

InformationNG 21 minutes 2 mins read

The General Overseer of Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, has revealed that his church does not collect tithes, stressing that his primary mission is to demonstrate spiritual power and perform miracles.

The controversial cleric made this known during his appearance on the Honest Bunch Podcast, in an episode uploaded to YouTube on Monday, where he criticised churches that constantly preach about tithing and giving.

According to Odumeje, some churches appear more focused on collecting money from their members than demonstrating the power of God through visible miracles. He claimed that worshippers are often subjected to repeated messages about financial giving without witnessing practical evidence of the miracles they are promised.

He explained that his ministry operates differently, insisting that demonstrating spiritual power, rather than teaching people to give money, is the central focus of his calling.

“Those people that collect tithes and teach tithes every day when you come to church, they will be interested in making sure that they clear your pockets. And there is no practical evidence and miracles that you will see. The only thing is stories. That is not the kind of church I run,” he said.

Speaking further, the cleric declared, “My mission on earth is demonstration of power. All the teaching of tithe and teaching of giving, I am not in that area.”

However, Odumeje clarified that he was not against the payment of tithes, noting that he believes it is a personal decision between an individual and God. He maintained that Christians should not be forced or manipulated into giving money under the guise of religious obligation.

“I don’t collect tithes. Nobody pays me tithes. I am not saying that tithe is bad. It’s a decision between you and God if you want to pay tithe. Tithe is real. But it is something that you must decide. Not something that somebody will be brainwashing you, forcing you,” he stated.

The preacher also spoke against teachings that suggest Christians could be denied access to heaven for failing to pay tithes. He argued that such claims should not be used to frighten or pressure church members into making financial contributions.
