Former Argentina international, Lionel Messi, has revealed why he doesn’t want to forget the late Diego Maradona.

According to Messi, Maradona put Argentina where the country on the world map.

This is coming after Messi played his last match for Argentina against Benin Republic.

“I don’t want to forget Diego, who put our country where it deserved to be,” Messi said as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

“I know he helped us when he was here with us and also from heaven, every step of the way.”

Maradona was a football legend who won the World Cup with Argentina as a player.

He also coached the Argentina national team before he died on November 25, 2020, at the age of 60.
