Nigerian influencer and entrepreneur, Waris Olayinka Akinwande, popularly known as Ola of Lagos, has explained why he deliberately chooses to live in a rented apartment despite having the financial capacity to own a house.
Speaking on a recent episode of the KK Show, Ola said he has never slept in a house he bought with his own money because paying rent motivates him to work harder.
The luxury influencer explained that the financial responsibility of paying rent keeps him focused and reminds him that he needs to continue working to meet his obligations.
He said: “If I sleep in a house I bought with my own money, I’ll relax. No! Rent, pay rent make you know say you wan pay 50 million naira.
“Pay, so that you go know say you have to work. If you go dey your house wey you buy. No, it’s fine to stay in your house, that’s my own opinion, don’t let that judge your life oo.”

Ola, however, stressed that his approach should not be treated as a general rule, noting that people’s financial circumstances differ.
“No, it depends on your reality,” he said.
“Some people now, na the car wey dem go buy, go buy them houses. Like one of my mentors online, he said his first car bought him houses.
“Yeah, so look at your current situation.”
