Battery power is becoming a major consideration for smartphone users, and Xiaomi says this is why it has made battery endurance a priority in its new REDMI Note 17 Series, which arrives in Nigeria on September 30, 2026.
The biggest talking point is the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G, which comes with a massive 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery and doubles the 5,000mAh capacity that has been common in smartphones.
Xiaomi says the battery can deliver up to four days of use on a single charge, based on its internal laboratory tests.
The phone also supports 100W HyperCharge and 27W wired reverse charging, allowing it to serve as a power source for other compatible devices.
The Pro Max is joined by the REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G, with an 8,340mAh battery and 67W charging, and the standard REDMI Note 17, which packs a 7,700mAh battery and 45W charging.
The three models are aimed at different users, but share Xiaomi’s focus on endurance, durability and everyday performance.
Xiaomi said the decision to make battery capacity a major focus was driven by the changing way people use smartphones, with users increasingly relying on their devices for mobile data, video streaming, social media, navigation, gaming, content creation and mobile work.
According to the company, the REDMI Note 17 Series is designed for power users, content creators, travellers and consumers looking for long battery life, fast charging, durability and AI-enabled camera features.

REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G which is the flagship of the series sports a 6.83-inch 1.5K CrystalRes AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
It also carries IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance.
Xiaomi says the device can withstand water exposure of up to two metres for 72 hours and has three-metre drop resistance.
The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 4nm platform, with up to 8GB RAM and 512GB storage in some markets.
For photography, it has a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation, an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 32MP front camera. Both front and rear cameras support 4K video recording at 30fps.
REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G
The Pro 5G features a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate, 3,500 nits peak brightness and 12-bit colour depth.
It is powered by the Snapdragon 6s 6G Gen 4 processor and supports 5G connectivity. RAM and storage options go as high as 12GB and 512GB respectively.
The device also has an 8,340mAh battery, 67W turbo charging and 22.5W reverse charging.
Its camera setup comprises a 50MP OIS main camera, 8MP ultra-wide camera and 16MP selfie camera.
REDMI Note 17
The base model comes with a 6.99-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,800 nits peak brightness.
It runs on the Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 processor, with storage options reaching 256GB and RAM up to 8GB.
Its 7,700mAh battery supports 45W turbo charging and 22.5W reverse charging.
The phone also features a 50MP main camera and 16MP front camera, alongside AI tools such as AI Erase Pro, AI Sky and AI Image Expansion.
More than battery
While battery power is the headline feature, Xiaomi is also pitching the series as an entertainment and long-term-use device family.
The Pro 5G and Pro Max 5G models feature dual speakers, Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio, with Xiaomi claiming volume boosts of up to 300 per cent and 400 per cent respectively.
The base Note 17 offers a 200 per cent volume boost and runs on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, while Xiaomi lists four years of operating-system updates and six years of security updates.
The September 30 Nigerian launch, according to the company, will put battery endurance at the centre of Xiaomi’s latest smartphone proposition.
With capacities ranging from 7,700mAh to 10,000mAh, the company is betting that for users who spend long hours on mobile data, video streaming, gaming, navigation and social media, how long a phone can stay away from the charger is becoming just as important as its camera, processor or display.
