Why Yari-led APC Presidential Council will secure Tinubu victory – Akporeha

Daily Post about 3 hours 2 mins read

Prince Williams Akporeha, the immediate past president of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, has explained why the 108-member All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Campaign Council, led by Abdulaziz Yari, would secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the January 16, 2027, election.

In a statement on Saturday, reacting to the emergence of Yari and other notable leaders, Akporeha said the former governor of Zamfara State and senator is a tested and trusted leader.

DAILY POST reports that Yari emerged as the Director-General of the 108-member Presidential Campaign Council for Tinubu.

His appointment has stirred reactions in Nigeria’s political space ahead of the 2027 election.

Reacting, Akporeha, who also doubles as the National Coordinator of Working People United, said Yari’s appointment would strengthen Tinubu’s chances of winning.

“Senator Abdulaziz Yari is a tested political leader with considerable experience in governance, party organisation and grassroots mobilisation. His appointment is a clear demonstration of the confidence reposed in his capacity to lead a campaign of national significance.

“We are confident that he will bring discipline, strategic coordination and the necessary political experience to the assignment while ensuring that the campaign effectively reaches Nigerians across all regions and sectors,” he stated.

DAILY POST reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had published the credentials and details of 19 presidential candidates, including Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress and Peter Obi of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, vying for the 2027 presidential seat in the January 16 election.

Recall that campaigns for the election officially began on August 19, 2026.
