There is no such approval, and we will not permit it,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To enforce the decision, Wike mandated the FCT Department of Development Control, alongside security agencies, to initiate an immediate clearance in the affected areas.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“We have directed Development Control, in conjunction with security agencies, to go and chase them away before we begin to have security problems. Friday, directed the council chairmen to enforce a strict “no-work, no-pay” policy against participating workers.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that he had directed the council leadership to clamp down on unapproved absence.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“We have directed the chairmen of the area councils to call their teachers and state clearly: if anybody participates in this, we will implement no-work, no-pay.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“Enough is enough; we cannot continue with this,” Wike warned.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The minister rejected the rationale behind the industrial action, asserting that all legitimate demands raised by the teaching body, including promotions and operational matters, had been substantially resolved or were actively being implemented.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“We want to state categorically and let it be known to the public: this so-called strike declaration is political, and we will not accept it.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“There is no basis for anybody to call for a strike. We don’t have any issue with the Local Education Authorities or primary schools. There is no such approval, and we will not permit it,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>To enforce the decision, Wike mandated the FCT Department of Development Control, alongside security agencies, to initiate an immediate clearance in the affected areas.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“We have directed Development Control, in conjunction with security agencies, to go and chase them away before we begin to have security problems. Who did God use for me to become governor? It was Dan.”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>He said Orbih was subjected to intense pressure during the period leading to the election, including attempts to induce him with political and material offers.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>The minister stated, “There was nothing in this world that was not done to induce him. My governor then sent people to Dan, offered him everything in this world, but Dan stood firm and said, ‘No, I will not accept, I will not agree.’”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Wike said Orbih’s support went beyond publicly backing his ambition, adding that the late politician donated two bulletproof Mercedes-Benz buses to his campaign for security purposes and helped mobilise political structures in the South-south.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>The FCT minister said what he valued most was that Orbih never sought personal benefits from their political relationship.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>He said, “Dan is not a typical Nigerian politician. Throughout my eight years as governor, he never came for one day — either by phone or coming to my house to say, ‘I need this contract.’ Never.”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>He described Orbih as a politician whose loyalty was tested during periods of crisis, saying the late PDP leader remained dependable when political relationships came under strain.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Wike said, “The only way I can identify a politician that is reliable is when that politician has stood in times of crisis. Loyalty, commitment to friendship, and being a brother’s keeper run in Dan’s family.”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Wike also credited Orbih with influencing the political careers of several politicians in the South-south and supporting political bridge-building in Edo State.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>He called on stakeholders in Edo to honour the late politician with a state burial, citing his contributions to the state’s political development.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>He stated, “I will continue to keep my relationship with Dan’s family. I think I will also discuss with the family on how to keep the legacies of Dan.”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Former Edo State Governor and incumbent senator for Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, also paid tribute to Orbih, saying their political disagreements ultimately made him a more accountable governor.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Oshiomhole said Orbih’s position as an opposition leader made him consider how the late politician and his supporters would scrutinise his decisions before taking major actions.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“So my happiness today is that Dan and I, whatever political differences we might have had, the truth is, Dan made me a better governor,” Oshiomhole said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Chairman of the Board of the Nigeria Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, Magnus Abe, recalled Orbih’s influence on his political career.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Abe said he served as Director-General of Orbih’s first governorship campaign under the United Nigeria Congress Party and travelled with him across Edo State.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Abe said, “Dan was, indeed, a bridge builder par excellence. We are gathered here today not because Dan is dead. So, they are family in that regard.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“But what I don’t understand is the way Minister Wike, for example, behaves as if he can dictate to everybody.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“There is one video in circulation. He had an event in the Rivers where he was practically sharing positions, telling at a rally, telling people the president of Nigeria, that’s the President Tinubu, will take presidency. He will take governorship. He will take all the Senate members. And he was calling the people there to step forward, saying yes, vote for this one.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“It’s then after allocating positions to the president, he now said he as Wike, it’s not good that he too doesn’t take something.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“Then he called out one person who will go to House of Reps, then some boys or some of his boys who will go to House of Assembly, and people were excited. He was allocating seats.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“No. Nobody should have that kind of power. It should be the Nigerian people, the electorate that should vote.
