Nigerian singer Davido has shared his opinion on couples keeping separate or secret bank accounts, saying he believes both partners should have their own personal finances.

Speaking on The Uncut Podcast, Davido was asked whether it was a good idea for women to have secret bank accounts from their partners. He agreed, stressing that the arrangement should not be limited to women.

“Yeah, I think it’s good. I think, I actually think they should,” Davido said.

He added that both men and women should have their own accounts, explaining that “you never know” what could happen in the future, stressing that they should to “mount their ground”.

According to the singer, he would not necessarily be upset if he discovered that his wife had a secret account. Instead, he jokingly suggested that he might even contribute to it.

“If I ever found out like my wife had a secret bank account, I’ll not be angry” he said.

Davido concluded by emphasizing that maintaining personal finances should apply to everyone in a relationship.

“I think everybody should have their own.”
