Former France striker, Thierry Henry, has lauded Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo’s selfless free-kick decision during his side’s World Cup 5-0 win against Uzbekistan on Tuesday.
Henry said he loved how Ronaldo allowed teammate Nuno Mendes to take a free-kick against Uzbekistan, adding that is how the Al-Nassr forward should lead the team by sharing.
“If one thing I wanted to mention, I said, the team has to score, not you, I love what he did at the free-kick, yes, he surprised everybody, it’s a team spirit guy, it’s how you lead your team, and you share,” Henry said on Fox Sports about Ronaldo.
“Well done. It’s what I like to see, Ronaldo,” he said.
Ronaldo will now hope to lead Portugal to victory when they face Colombia in their final group game this weekend.
Portugal sits in second position in Group K with four points, and they are behind leaders Colombia, who have six points.
