World Cup 2026: Lamouchi sacked by Tunisia after heavy loss to Sweden

Daily Post about 3 hours 1 mins read

Tunisia have sacked their head coach Sabri Lamouchi following the Carthage Eagles’ heavy defeat to Sweden in their opening fixture at the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026.

The North Africans were thrashed 5-1 by Sweden on Sunday night.

Former international Wahbi Kazri, who is part of the technical crew, is tipped to take over as interim coach until the end of the World Cup.

Tunisia will face Japan in their next game on Sunday, 21 June.

Lamouchi was appointed Tunisia head coach in January 2026.

The Carthage Eagles held Canada to a 0-0 draw in his first game in charge.

They then lost 1-0 to Austria, and 5-0 against Belgium, before the humiliating defeat to Sweden.
