World Cup 2026: Lionel Scaloni reveals instruction he normally gives Messi

Argentina head coach, Lionel Scaloni, has revealed the instructions he normally gives his captain, Lionel Messi, amid the ongoing FIFA World Cup tournament.

Scaloni opted to bench Messi as Argentina defeated Jordan 3-1 in their final group game encounter at the weekend.

Messi came off the bench to score the third goal for Scaloni’s side against Jordan.

When asked at his post-match interview about the instructions he gives to Messi before the Inter Miami forward came off the bench, Scaloni said, “I just tell him, ‘go win the game’ (laughs).

“No, what else can I tell him? Are you really asking me this question? He’s the only one who doesn’t need any instructions at all.

“Seriously, you’re asking me if I should tell him, ‘run this way’ or ‘handle that ball like this’? That’s ridiculous,” he said.
