World Cup 2026: Miroslav Koubek becomes third coach to resign after elimination

Daily Post about 3 hours 1 mins read

Czechia coach, Miroslav Koubek, has become the third and latest manager to resign following the nation’s group-stage exit at the FIFA World Cup 2026

The Czechs finished bottom of Group A with one point from three matches their matches.

They were in the same group against Korea Republic, South Africa and Mexico.

Koubek only took on the role ahead of Czechia’s World Cup play-off matches.

The 74-year-old guided them to successive penalty-shootout wins over the Republic of Ireland and Denmark, which secured the country’s return to the global finals after a 20-year absence.

Koubek now joined the likes of Steve Clarke, who recently stepped down as Scotland coach after Ghana’s defeat to Croatia at the weekend confirmed Scotland’s elimination from the 2026 World Cup.

Also, Hong Myung-bo resigned as South Korea’s head coach following the team’s early group stage elimination as they failed to qualify for the Round of 32.
