Spain midfielder Rodri has apologized to Portugal’s Bernardo Silva after a heated on-field altercation between the two men during their World Cup Round of 16 fixtures on Monday.
The incident happened as Spain defeated Portugal 1-0 to qualify for the quarter-finals.
Recall that a late goal from Mikel Merino secured the victory for Spain against Portugal in Dallas.
However, Rodri’s provocative actions triggered a heated altercation with Silva.
Speaking to reporters after the match, the Ballon d’Or winner admitted, “I apologise to Bernardo Silva for celebrating his miss on that last action. It’s my fault.”
Rodri and Silva were former teammates at Manchester City during their time together at Manchester City.
