Former Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney, has named three favourite countries to win the World Cup this year.

Speaking on BBC Sport, Rooney named England, France and Spain as the three teams to win the World Cup.

He also tipped England and Spain to play the final, insisting that the Three Lions will eventually emerge winners.

“I think you have to look at Spain, France and England,” Rooney told BBC Sport.

“I think they are probably favourites for this World Cup.

“I think England and Spain will make the final, and hopefully England will win it.”

Meanwhile, Argentina is the current holder of the competition, having won it in Qatar four years ago.
